Compressor Maintenance: “No Worries”

With over 40,000 hours of operation and only oil changes for maintenance, a Hycomp nitrogen compressor in Eugene, Oregon is proving its worth.

When installed correctly, given proper inlet filtration and adequate receiver/discharge tanks, Hycomp compressors and boosters provide years of worry-free service.

We do not recommend running one of our compressors for approximately 16 hours a day, 365 days a year, for 7 years without regular preventative maintenance other than oil changes. However, this example stands as a testament to Hycomp compressor quality and longevity.

Pacific Metal Fab specializes in laser metal cutting. In June of 2003 they purchased a Hycomp 2AN17B nitrogen booster/compressor to increase the pressure of nitrogen coming from a generator to supply three Bystronic laser cutting machines with steady streams of high purity nitrogen. Pacific Metal Fab has a high demand for nitrogen and their nitrogen generation system runs, on average 16 hours a day to keep up with their heavy workload.

Wayne Dawson, Machine Maintenance for Pacific Metal Fab in Eugene, Oregon has been with the company for over 12 years and enjoys the continuous and worry-free nature of their Hycomp nitrogen booster. He refers to the Hycomp compressor as, “…very simple and user friendly.” Over the last 7 years Wayne has experienced only minor maintenance issues which consist of changing out a pressure relief valve and the drive belt.

“The Hycomp compressor performs very well for us. We have no complaints,” Wayne continues, “I don’t have to do much with it, I just walk by and see that it is working… it just keeps running.” This is basically the best compliment a compressor manufacturer can get, that our compressors are working so well that our customers don’t have to worry about them.

If an issue were to arise with any compressor we have made, we have an excellent service and support staff that will work for you and with you to resolve any concerns or technical questions you may have.

With over 40,000 hours of service with only oil changes for maintenance, Wayne has mentioned that the compressor’s performance has started to mildly decline. We are currently working with him to provide the advice and parts to return their Hycomp compressor to peak performance. As we continue to manufacture compressors and compressor systems we will always back those compressors. More importantly, we stand behind our customers and we hope to hear from Wayne again in 2018.
